Parent / Child Dedication
What is a Parent Child Dedication?
Parent Child Dedications or in some churches it is called a Baby Dedication is a special service where parents may bring their child forward to present him or her to God. In the same way that Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple in Luke 2:22 we choose to bring our children into His presence. During this time we recognize that our children are a gift from God and we, as parents, commit to placing God above all else in our homes. A class is offered two weeks prior to any dedication service to give parents the opportunity to hear and discuss what it means to dedicate your child here at Ten Mile. When we stand before God and our church and make promises, we feel it is important to be informed and have prayerfully acknowledged our understanding of this commitment. Furthermore, we talk about the role the church plays in the encouragement and care of our families, as the church also will make commitments to our families during this service.
